📝 Steal my work sample! - Content Plan/Strategy Assignment

Hey learner,

Back in early 2023, I created this content plan/strategy for a B2B SaaS company, as an assignment during the interview process. Not only did it land me the job, I also used it later that year and got three more offers.

Note: this assignment was created with specific guidelines. The task was to create a content strategy for this company launching a new global business unit, with a two-page limit. When you download this, you’re seeing EXACTLY what I handed in to the company.

You can use this in three ways:

đŸ§© Template: You can see the finished version here that I submitted. Just take out the specific details and fill it in with your own info. All the steps and subpoints are there for you to guide your own strategy.

đŸ—’ïž Example: It's a real-life work sample that got me hired. You can look at it to learn what makes a good content plan and how to structure one successfully. It’s a great example of what a successful content plan assignment should look like.

🧭 Guideline: There's no single right way to create a content strategy; everyone has their own approach. You can use this one as a guide to creating your own, drawing inspo along the way.

Here’s a short breakdown of how I go about a content plan:

  1. Research and Analysis: Start by collecting key information, then make recommendations based on what you find.

  2. Developing the Strategy: Work with different teams to set goals and determine key performance indicators (KPIs). Lay out your main and supporting goals, decide on KPIs, identify your target audience (IC), set content priorities, and plan distribution channels.

  3. Content Creation: Do more research, create frameworks for your content, then get down to writing and producing it.

  4. Content Promotion and Campaigns: Communicate clearly with your team, set clear goals and KPIs for your campaigns, support the process with regular content creation, and end up with something like a content promotion calendar.

  5. Measurement and Optimization: Keep an eye on your progress weekly, make adjustments as needed, and list the tools you'll use to track everything.

For each step, I've included a clear deliverable, so you always know where you're headed.

I’ll be creating Instagram videos about each part of this plan, so you can understand it better in detail. Make sure you’re following me there @learnshiv.
