💡 GLOSSARY OF GROWTH

TECH Cloud Computing is the delivery of computing services like storage, processing, and software over the internet, allowing users to access and manage data and applications from anywhere. Apple's new AI features in iOS 18 leverage cloud computing to enhance on-device intelligence and performance.

SOCIAL JUSTICE Weaponization refers to the strategic use of laws, policies, or social issues to unfairly target, discredit, or undermine individuals or groups, often for political gain. Israel has been accused of weaponizing its conflict with Palestinians by restricting water access to Gaza, severely impacting the civilian population and exacerbating humanitarian crises.

SELF-DEVELOPMENT — Emotional Agility is the ability to navigate life's twists and turns with a clear head and open heart. It involves being flexible with your thoughts and feelings, accepting them without judgment, and acting in ways that align with your values.

💡 LESSON LEARNED

Recently, I’ve had a lot of people reach out to me on LinkedIn with some career questions. I’ve found some people are great at this, very strategic and mindful of my time. Others, well... aren’t. Here are some tips on how you should reach out to someone if you’re “picking their brain” on LinkedIn.

  1. Personalize Your Message: Start with a specific detail about their profile or career that inspired you. This shows genuine interest and makes your message stand out. Example: "Hi [Name], I was impressed by your work in [specific field]. Your achievements at [example here] are inspiring to me."

  2. Be Specific and Respectful: Clearly state your purpose and ask 2-3 specific questions while acknowledging their schedule. Example: "I'm currently a [your position] interested in [specific field]. I’m reaching out because [very specific reason you’re reaching out to THEM in particular]. Could you share which educational background helped you most? Any pivotal experiences you recommend? Even a brief response would be greatly appreciated, as I know you’re busy."

  3. Express Gratitude and Interest in Future Engagement: Thank them in advance and express a desire to stay connected. Example: "Thank you for considering my request. I'd love to stay in touch and learn from your experiences because [clear reason for networking]. Best, [Your Name]."

💡 LEARNSHIV CONTENT

I’m still in the process of making this video book review, but I wanted to share the short text version here. This book does a wonderful job of explaining how all social movements are connected. I thought it was especially relevant currently, given the humanitarian crisis and genocide in Palestine.

Summary:
"Freedom is a Constant Struggle" by Angela Davis is a powerful collection of essays and interviews that explores the interconnectedness of various social justice movements.

Main Takeaways:

  1. Interconnected Struggles: Davis emphasizes that struggles for freedom and justice are interconnected globally. She draws parallels between the civil rights movement in the U.S., the anti-apartheid fight in South Africa, and the ongoing Palestinian liberation movement.

  2. Intersectionality: A key theme in the book is the importance of understanding and addressing the intersections of race, class, and gender in social justice movements. Davis argues that a holistic approach is crucial for achieving true freedom and equality.

  3. Importance of Solidarity: Davis underscores the necessity of global solidarity in the fight against oppression. She advocates for a united front among different movements and communities to effectively challenge systemic injustices and promote lasting change.

The book highlights how social movements worldwide are interconnected. Davis's call for solidarity and collective action is a crucial reminder that the fight for justice in one part of the world is intrinsically linked to struggles elsewhere. By recognizing these connections, we can foster a more unified and effective response to oppression and support the Palestinian cause as part of a broader commitment to global justice and human rights.
