💡learnshiv newsletter - May 22nd, 2024
Hi! Welcome to our 17th newsletter! 💡learnshiv is here to make learning easy for you, whether it’s tech, social justice, or self-improvement content. In this constantly changing world, the only way to future-proof yourself is diversification, and that’s what I’m here to help you do.
Here’s what we’re talking about in this week’s newsletter:
✏️ Defining: churn, intersectional feminism and kaizen
❓Three (of 34) things I’ve learned now that I’m 34
🗣️ A free download of a blog assignment that got me a job offer
🎙️ Report card for uSERP’s free SEO course
💡 GLOSSARY OF GROWTH
TECH — Churn refers to the rate at which customers stop doing business with a company over a given period. This metric is crucial because it directly impacts a company's revenue and growth potential.
SOCIAL JUSTICE — Intersectional Feminism is a branch of feminism that explores how various forms of oppression, such as racism, sexism, classism, and others, intersect and create unique dynamics and effects.
SELF-DEVELOPMENT — Kaizen is a Japanese term that means "continuous improvement." It involves making small, incremental changes regularly to improve oneself or processes.
💡 LESSON LEARNED
I’m 34 this week! (Yesterday, to be exact) and on Linkedin I shared 34 things I’ve learned about work in 34 years. Here are three:
Not everyone is going to like you, and that’s okay - I’m finally really accepting this in 2024. This is super important for maintaining realistic expectations and reducing stress. It helps build emotional resilience, allowing you to handle criticism and conflict more effectively. Accepting this fact encourages authenticity and fosters genuine relationships. It means you stand for something. If EVERYONE likes you… you may be a fairly bland or inconsequential presence.
Always be organized and transparent - In work and in life, don’t ever give anyone an opportunity to question your abilities or your actions. Being organized and open in both work and life helps build trust and makes your relationships stronger. It keeps misunderstandings and conflicts at bay by making sure everyone knows what to expect.
You deserve everything you’ve gotten - While I’m totally aware that luck has played a part in many parts of my life, I know that I’ve worked very hard as well. As women, it’s really easy to get imposter syndrome and think that we don’t deserve the good things that happen to us. WE. DO.

💡 F R E E B I E
Here’s a FREE blog post I wrote for an assignment. It ended up getting me a job offer. What I’d like you to pay attention to here is HOW I set up this blog post. I included SEO information like keywords, search terms, competitor examples, metadata suggestions and ideas for internal linking - all on top of the actual blog post itself. This is a great way to not only stand out in an interview process but also to set up all of your blog posts because it sets you up for success. I hope it’s helpful.
